AI phone agent · Built in Nigeria
A phone agent that speaks your customers' language.
Jaba answers customer calls in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Swahili and Zulu. And it does the job while the caller is still on the line: it checks the account, tops up airtime or data, fixes a failed recharge and logs the complaint.

Who it's for
Built for the calls that pile up
Most calls to a contact centre are the same few requests. Jaba handles those, in the caller's language, at any hour, so your people can take the hard ones.
-
Complaint lines
Lenders and microfinance banks
Answer every complaint call, day and night, in the caller's language. Jaba logs each complaint with a reference number, so your team can close it within the 24-hour deadline.
-

Telcos
Failed recharges, data bundles, balance checks: the calls that fill the queue. Jaba looks up the line and fixes the common problems itself, and logs a complaint for anything else.

Data stays here
Banks and payment companies
Customer care that can run on a server in Nigeria, or in your own server room, so the caller's voice and data stay where the rules say they must.
Why Jaba
What we do differently
01We publish our test results
For every language, we show how often Jaba does the task right and how fast it answers. Ask any voice vendor for theirs.
02One GPU, in Nigeria or in your building
Listening, thinking and speaking all run on one machine, using open models. No call audio is sent to a foreign AI service.
03Priced in naira
We run our own models, so there is no dollar bill per minute underneath your price.
04Hausa and the North first
Hausa is Nigeria's most common home language. A phone call reaches customers who don't read English or use apps, on any phone.
05It follows the caller
If a caller starts in English and switches to Hausa, Jaba switches too, in the same call.
06Ready for East and South Africa
Swahili and Zulu already work, for Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.

Our scorecard
Every language gets the same test: seven customer-care conversations (recharges, data, complaints, purchases) with 20 checks that Jaba took the right action with the right details.
Tasks done right, out of 20
The model Jaba uses on live calls
Igbo is our weak spot with the fast model. Our larger model gets 20 out of 20 in Igbo, but takes about half a second longer to start speaking.
- About 1 s
from the caller stopping to Jaba speaking, timed on our server (middle value 0.96 s)
- 1.3–2.9 s
the same gap as a caller hears it, over the public internet
- 0.38 s
for Jaba to stop talking when the caller cuts in
- 195 of 200
recordings where Jaba recognised the caller's language by itself. No English caller was wrongly switched (0 of 168)
How we measured. Our own tests on one NVIDIA A100 GPU. The task test uses typed conversations, so it checks Jaba's reasoning on its own; the timings come from spoken calls. The language test used recordings of about 10 seconds; on very short turns, the caller can simply ask for a language.
We will update these numbers as Jaba improves.
How it works
Listen, act, speak
Listens
Speech recognition built for African languages hears the caller, in the language they chose.
Acts
Jaba works out what the caller needs and does it through your systems: looks up the account, tops up, fixes the recharge, logs the complaint.
Speaks
It answers in a natural voice, in the caller's language, and stops the moment the caller cuts in.
Today you can talk to Jaba in a web browser. For a pilot, we connect it to your phone lines and your systems.
Pilots
Run a pilot with us
We are looking for our first pilot partners: lenders, telcos, banks, and anyone whose phone lines are always busy. Email us and we will set up a live demo.
At Moonshot in Lagos on 28–29 October? Ask us for a demo in person.
